I was really excited to see my favorite band live for the first time at the Shnitz, one of the best venues in town acoustically. The opening act featured a singer with volume so loud that I could not understand a word he was singing, after about 40 almost unendurable minutes of this, intermission came. At one point, the mike went out when the lead singer was playing piano and he just kept on going as if nothing was wrong, maybe things would get better when Grease - The Musical took the stage. They did not. The song was "Codes and Keys," one of my favorites. The sound volume throughout the show was so horrifically deafening, NOBODY I asked could understand him, either. I left after about 30 minutes, the sound volume ruined their amazing music. Don't these local acts have Sound Engineers? Having enjoyed Jackson Brown, Hall and Oates, Johnny Mathis and others there, I took a poll of random audience members to see if they shared my problem.
